Research Data Management: Beyond Funder Requirements.
Oct 31 2023, 12-1pm EST.

Many of us are feeling the pressure to face the challenges of Research Data Management (RDM) because funders are developing policies making it a requirement for funding. In particular, the Tri-Agency RDM policy requires the use of Data Management Plans (DMPs), Research Data Repositories, and Institutional RDM Strategies. A certain amount of anxiety has been generated with people asking, "what do I have to do?" and, "when do I have to do it?" This session moves beyond the "what" and "when" and focuses on the "why." Why do funders consider this such an important area of focus, and why might this end up being a good thing for our researchers in the long run?
