Exploring Differences in how Research Services Offices are Structured for Success – A Panel Discussion.
Jan 16 2024, 12-1pm EST.
Have you ever wondered how Research Offices are set up and organized at other institutions, whether the tasks you perform are undertaken differently elsewhere or whether there are lessons to learn from the way others are structured? Most Canadian research institutions have a Research Services Office to support grant development and post-award management, but their organizational structures can vary significantly. Some institutions have centrally-based teams dedicated to pre and post-award management, while others may provide this at the Faculty level or be organized by funding agency. In this session, Emma Koiston (University of Calgary), Paula Clarke (Memorial University of Newfoundland), and Pamela McIntyre (McMaster University) will explore the differences in approach at their respective institutions and evaluate the benefits of how their organization structure impacts research success.
