Purposeful Transformation of a Research Enterprise
Purposeful Transformation of a Research Enterprise.
Oct 20 2023, 12-1pm EST.
In this presentation, Dr. Deepak S. Gupta will share stories of a monumental transformation of the research enterprise at one of BC’s largest and newest teaching-focused universities.
Dr. Gupta joined KPU in 2018 as the fourth associate vice president in five years overseeing research across the university. Given leadership turnover and vacuum, there was a legacy of mis-steps accumulated over years to be overcome, while also purposefully (re)building a strong foundation for impactful research. Over more than four years, a series of thoughtful and innovative strategies were implemented to turn things around. Around a hundred improvements, big and small were implemented, ultimately resulting in a new institutional narrative around research and innovation.
The presentation will reflect on the lessons learnt and the crucial role research administrators can play in providing institutional leadership to invigorate the research enterprise.
