The Ottawa Hospital Research Institute’s Research Information System (RIS) is the only one of its kind and was built completely in-house. This RIS includes modules supporting REB, HR, grants, finance, contracts, tech transfer, research safety, bibliometrics and many more through a single platform. A journey that extends over 15 years is not without its many successes and failures. This session will explore some of the unique challenges, thoughtful considerations, intentional collaborations and happy accidents that resulted in an RIS that has transformed the research enterprise for administration and research staff. This unique look into an RIS will showcase opportunities to expand current systems as well as expose processes that may benefit other organizations.
