Position title: Virtual Volunteer (Twitter) 
Interest Area: Communications
Responsibilities: Re-tweet and/or quote tweets from @cara-acaar on a weekly basis with the goal of raising awareness of CARA in support of our programs, services, membership and volunteer goals
Hours: 15 minutes/week, minimum 3 month commitment please 
Travel Required: No

Position title: Research Administration Certificate Program Ambassador 
Interest Area: Professional Development & Communications
Responsibilities: Educate fellow research administrators about the Research Administration Certificate opportunity at Mohawk College through blog posts, CARA Connection articles, social media and/or in person presentations at institutions and conferences. For members in southern Ontario, you could organize a presentation by CARA and Mohawk staff at your institution. CARA has a slide deck available and you could present at your institution or others in your area.
Hours: 30 minutes/month

Position title: LinkedIn Community Curator
Interest Area: Communications
Responsibilities: Post articles and links relevant to our community, catalyze discussions, comment on posts on a weekly basis.
Hours: 30 minutes/month

Position title: Contributing Editor
Interest Area: Communications (Writing/Editing)
Responsibilities: Solicit, write and edit articles for CARA’s bi-monthly newsletter. Working as part of the newsletter team, you write articles in your area of expertise and recruit diverse writers to publish in the CARA Connection. Please see https://cara-acaar.ca/volunteer/CARAConnectionCommittee
Hours: 1+ hour/month

Position title: Webinar Presenter
Interest Area: Professional Development
Responsibilities: Develop and present a webinar in your particular area of expertise. CARA coordinates the advertising, scheduling and webinar platform. Presenters submit an abstract and bio for review by the Chair, Professional Development and for advertising. Presenter does a systems test prior to the webinar and the webinar is moderated by the CARA Program Coordinator (please contact webinars@cara-acaar.ca for a list of topics)
Hours: 1 hour webinar plus preparation time. Webinars are scheduled to speaker convenience.
Travel Required: No

   

Position title: Mentor 
Interest Area: Professional Development
Responsibilities:  Mentor a fellow CARA member one-on-one via email and telephone. Share your career story and expertise and provide coaching and encouragement to someone newer to our profession. Mentee identifies areas for mentorship. CARA also provides an application to help you identify ways you can assist your mentee and suggests topics for which mentees are seeking mentorship.
Hours: 1-2 hours/month
Travel Required: No, but you may be able to meet your mentee at the National Conference.

Position title: On-site Conference Volunteer, Registration

Interest Area: Membership Engagement

Responsibilities: Meet fellow CARA members with a warm greeting when they arrive to register. Provide directions to session rooms as needed.

Travel Required: You must be attending the 2019 conference

 

Position title: On-site Conference Volunteer, Reception

Interest Area: Membership Engagement

Responsibilities: Meet fellow CARA members by greeting them when they arrive at the reception and introducing them to fellow members.

Travel Required: You must be attending the 2019 conference

Position title: On-site Conference Volunteer, CARA Booth

Interest Area: Membership Engagement

Responsibilities: Greet and assist fellow CARA members when they visit the CARA booth. Share information about CARA programs and resources, sell raffle tickets

Hours: 1+ at various times throughout the conference depending on your availability

Travel Required: You must be attending the 2019 conference

Position title: On-site Conference Volunteer, Raffle ticket sales

Interest Area: Membership Engagement, Fundraising

Responsibilities:  Sell raffle tickets to conference attendees

Hours: 1+ as available

Travel Required: You must be attending the 2019 conference

Position title: Exhibitor liaison

Interest Area: Partner Engagement

Responsibilities:  Visit exhibitors, thank them for attending CARA, inquire if they need anything and facilitate them getting what they need from CARA or hotel staff

Hours: 1+ as available
