Current Volunteer Opportunities


Position title: Virtual Volunteer (Twitter) 
Interest Area: Communications
Responsibilities: Re-tweet and/or quote tweets from @cara-acaar on a weekly basis with the goal of raising awareness of CARA in support of our programs, services, membership and volunteer goals
Hours: 15 minutes/week, minimum 3 month commitment please 
Travel Required: No

Position title: Professional Development Committee member 
Interest Area: Professional development - webinars
Responsibilities: Actively participate in the work of the Professional Development Committee with the main responsibilities being the identification of potential webinar presenters for CARA and participation in a monthly conference call.
Hours: varied depending on your approach, at least 1+ hour/month for committee call and recruiting work
Travel Required: No


Position title: Translator 
Interest Area: Communication, Education
Responsibilities: Bilingual Anglophones are needed to translate (from French to English) assignments for students in CARA’s certificate programs.
Hours: Will vary but will be busiest in March and other assignment deadlines

Position title: LinkedIn Community Curator
Interest Area: Communications
Responsibilities: Post articles and links relevant to our community, catalyze discussions, comment on posts on a weekly basis.
Hours: 30 minutes/month
Travel Required: No


Position title: Contributing Editor
Interest Area: Communications (Writing/Editing)
Responsibilities: Solicit, write and edit articles for CARA’s bi-monthly newsletter. Working as part of the newsletter team, you write articles in your area of expertise and recruit diverse writers to publish in the CARA Connection. Please see
Hours: 1+ hour/month

Position title: Webinar Presenter
Interest Area: Professional Development
Responsibilities: Develop and present a webinar in your particular area of expertise. CARA coordinates the advertising, scheduling and webinar platform. Presenters submit an abstract and bio for review by the Chair, Professional Development and for advertising. Presenter does a systems test prior to the webinar and the webinar is moderated by the CARA Program Coordinator (please contact for a list of topics)
Hours: 1 hour webinar plus preparation time. Webinars are scheduled to speaker convenience.
Travel Required: No


Position title: Mentor 
Interest Area: Professional Development
Responsibilities:  Mentor a fellow CARA member one-on-one via email and telephone. Share your career story and expertise and provide coaching and encouragement to someone newer to our profession. Mentee identifies areas for mentorship. CARA also provides an application to help you identify ways you can assist your mentee and suggests topics for which mentees are seeking mentorship.
Hours: 1-2 hours/month
Travel Required: No, but you may be able to meet your mentee at the National Conference.
