Coaching Approach in Research Administration Part 3 - Active listening

Leveraging her “Leadership Coaching Certification” training from Essential Impact, Kakali will be leading a four-part webinar series “Coaching Approach in Research Administration,” grounded in the International Coaching Foundation’s (ICF) four domains of core competencies.
ICF domain #3: (Communicate effectively) Definition: Focuses on what the individual is and is not saying to fully understand what is being communicated in the context of his/her systems and to support self-expression.
1. Consider individual’s context, identity, environment, experiences, values and beliefs to enhance understanding of what he/she is communicating
2. Reflect or summarize and communicate back to ensure clarity and understanding (paraphrasing)
3. Recognizes and inquires when there is more to what is being said (Tell me more)
4. Notices, acknowledges and explores individual’s emotions, energy shifts, non-verbal cues or other behaviors
5. Notices trends in individual’s behaviors and emotions to discern themes and patterns
